Children’s Ministries
Every Sunday a children's sermon is shared during
the morning worship services at both churches. This is a time when children are
invited to the front of the Sanctuary for a message, questions, stories, and illustrations that
will pull them into the service and serve as a way of recognizing them as the
future of the church.
Children’s
Church is provided for children ages three through second
grade during our Sunday morning worship services at both churches. The pastor
will announce when children may be dismissed for Children’s Church following
the morning children's sermon.
A well equipped, staffed nursery for infants and toddlers is located just outside of
the sanctuary at both churches. The volunteers that staff our nurseries are trained with small children so
you can feel confident leaving your children, trusting that they will be taken
care of by a loving adult.
Sunday
School classes for children
from pre-K and older are offered at Flora at 10:15 am and at Bringhurst UMC at 9:30
am. These classes are offered as a way of discipling
your child's mind in the
way of the Bible and training them to seek God's will and follow His guidance
for their lives. Our current Sunday School Superintendents are Deb Foreman
(Flora UMC) and Mary Simpson (Bringhurst UMC).
Throughout the year both churches have children's programs for Easter, Christmas, Mother's and
Father's Days, and other special events or days. These are always a special
time for the children, the parents, and the rest of our church family. If you
have a special request or question about the children's programs please talk
with Sarah Hanaway
(Flora UMC) or Mary Simpson (Bringhurst UMC). Please see our bulletin or
announcements for upcoming children's programs.
345
Ministry is a special children's ministry for 3rd, 4th, and
5th grade students. We feel that this age is a very influential point in a young life and so we
take this opportunity to teach and train them in the ways of the Bible. 345 Ministry meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays
of every month (during the school year) from 3:45 pm until 5:00 pm in the Flora
UMC basement. During this time we have games, activities, food, and
discussions with the children. Please
see the bulletin or announcements for
upcoming 345 Ministry meetings. For questions about 345 Ministry please contact
our Student Ministry Director, Adam Conder.
Vacation
Bible School (VBS) has always been a special time for the children in our
church and all around the community as well as the adults that take part in
planning and leading this week-long time of fun, games, music, food, and
learning about God. Our VBS usually runs during the first part of June. Please
see the church bulletin or announcements for VBS news.
