ROCK Student Ministry facebook.com page.
ROCK is the Student Ministry at Flora United Methodist
Church and Bringhurst United Methodist Church. ROCK is so much more than a
name, it is our Identity.
ROCK stands for Reaching Others for Christ's Kingdom! Matthew 16:18 says, on
this ROCK I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not contain it!
Every week, area students, grade sixth through seniors in high
school, gather to connect with each other, discussing issues that matter to
this generation in a fun and relaxing environment.
ROCK Group – this
is all about relationships; building relationships with each other and building
a relationship with Christ!
• Jr. High ROCK
Group meets from 4:30p to 6:15p on Sunday evenings to share in fun activities
and events, such as scavenger hunts, video game tournaments, pool parties,
amateur Olympics, messy games, movie nights, cookouts and much, much more. We
also incorporate a short teaching and a light meal such as a pizza or taco
buffet and a chance to hang out and relax with friends.
• Sr. High ROCK Group meets from 5:45p to 7:30p on Sunday evenings to share in
life’s journey together. Our passion as a group is to grow in maturity,
spirituality, and numbers as we follow God together. We also enjoy videos,
music, and a light meal together where we can hang out and relax together.
ROCK Core – this is all about discipleship! The last instructions Jesus gave to
us before he went back to heaven were to make disciples (Matthew 28:19). We
have weekly discipleship groups that meet in both Flora and Bringhurst on
Sunday mornings for both junior and senior high students. ROCK Core begins at
9:15a at Bringhurst UMC and at 10:15a at Flora UMC
Solid ROCK – this is all about worship! God created us because He loved us and He made us to worship
Him. We take the opportunity on a regular basis to focus our attention on our
Creator and give thanks back to Him. We do this in a number of different ways,
such as experiential prayer stations, worship concerts, and encounters with
God’s Holy Word.
ROCK OUTreach – this is all about ministry! It is our goal to serve those around
us on a daily basis, by loving them as Christ would. We aim to organize a
service project monthly where we purposefully concentrate on the needs of
others in the community and world around us.
Our Mission: ROCK Student Ministry desires to disciple young men
and women in the ways of Christ through Biblical teaching, to train young men
and women to be missional, as Jesus was, by reaching out to the surrounding
community and to the world, and to worship God, our creator, in a true and
reverent manner, through our words and through our lives.

throughout
the month of March we will jump into many of the basic questions to discover
more about our personal belief systems; who, what, when, where, why, & how…
who/what do you hold a belief in?
when/where did you come to this belief?
why do you hold to this belief?
how do you live out this belief?
